Chat Interface

A comprehensive guide on the Neuro+ platform's chat interface.

Chat Interface

The chat interface (accessible after logging in to the chat site) is the main area where you will interact with Neuro+. Here's a breakdown of its key components:

Chat Space

This is the expansive, central area of the screen. It serves as the canvas for your conversation with the AI. All messages from you and the AI will appear here. To begin, simply click on the "Start chatting" prompt that appears in the centre of the space.

The chat input area

Message Input & Controls

At the bottom of the chat space sits the chat input, where you compose and send your messages.

  • Message Input Field: This is where you type your prompts, questions, and messages to the AI.
  • Add Button (+): Located in the bottom left corner of the chat input, clicking the + opens a small dropdown with four options:
    • Upload files: Upload a file directly from your computer to include in the conversation.
    • Add from library: Select a file from your Library to attach to the chat.
    • Insert prompt: Choose a saved prompt to insert into the message input.
    • Web search: Toggle web search on or off. When enabled, the AI can search the internet for real-time information. Web search is off by default.
  • Send Button (↑): The upward arrow icon sends your message to the AI. It appears once you begin typing.

Model & Neuron Selector

Centred above the chat input, this dropdown gives you quick access to everything you can run a conversation with: the built-in Neuro+ models (such as Neuro+ Power and Neuro+ Coach), general-purpose models from providers like Anthropic, OpenAI, and Google, and any custom Neurons you have created.

The Model & Neuron Selector dropdown

The sidebar is always visible on the left side of the screen. It gives you quick access to your chats, Neurons, prompts, and library, as well as workspace settings.

Selecting a Model or Neuron

The Model & Neuron Selector dropdown is centred above the chat input. Clicking it opens a menu organised into several sections:

  • Neuro+ Models: The built-in Neuro+ models, such as Neuro+ Power and Neuro+ Coach, are listed here. These are the recommended starting point for most tasks as they have full access to the NeuroPower behavioural frameworks.
  • General Models: A selection of models from providers including Anthropic, OpenAI, and Google, grouped by provider. Useful when you want to work with a specific model for a task outside the leadership and coaching domain.
  • Neurons: Any custom Neurons you have created or have access to. See What are Neurons? for more detail.
  • Tools: The two built-in profiler tools, the Core Belief Profiler and the Strategic Mindsets Profiler, also appear in this dropdown and can be selected here alongside models and Neurons.

Top-Right Menu

The top-right corner of the interface contains a three-dot menu (⋯). Clicking it reveals two options:

  • Files and resources: Opens the Chat files and resources window, where you can attach files or knowledge bases to the current chat.
  • Settings: Opens the Chat Settings window, where you can control how the AI behaves for this specific chat.

Chat Files and Resources

The Chat files and resources window has three tabs:

  • Chat resources: Shows any files or knowledge bases already attached to the current chat, with quick buttons to Select from Library or Upload additional files.
  • Select from Library: Displays your recently used files so you can add them to the chat with one click. You can also search your full library from here.
  • Upload: Lets you drag and drop files directly, or browse to choose them. Accepted formats are: md, txt, pdf, docx, csv, json, and jsonl.

Images (PNG, JPEG, JPG) are not uploaded through this window. To include an image in a conversation, attach it directly in the chat input. It will be sent with that specific message rather than added as a persistent chat resource.

Chat Settings

The Chat Settings window lets you customise how the AI behaves in the current chat. It contains two checkboxes and an expandable Advanced settings section.

  • Include profile context (on by default): When enabled, the AI has access to the profile context you have set in your profile, including your background, preferences, or role, so it can tailor its responses accordingly.
  • Include workspace instructions (on by default): When enabled, the workspace-level instructions you have configured are included in the AI's context for this chat.

Clicking Advanced settings expands the following controls:

  • Instructions: A free-text field where you can provide custom instructions specifically for this chat. The default value is "You are a friendly, helpful AI assistant."
  • Temperature: A slider that adjusts how creative or varied the AI's responses are. Lower values produce more focused, consistent answers; higher values produce more diverse ones.
  • Context Length: A slider that sets the maximum amount of text (in words) the AI considers when generating a response.

The sidebar is always visible on the left side of the screen. It gives you persistent access to the core sections of the platform.

Workspace Selector

At the very top of the sidebar is the workspace selector, which displays your current workspace's icon and name. Clicking it opens a dropdown where you can switch to another workspace, create a new one, or open the current workspace's settings. See Workspaces below for a full explanation.

Below the workspace selector, the sidebar contains the following items:

  • New Chat: Starts a fresh conversation immediately.
  • Search chats: Opens a command palette where you can search your chat history or quickly run actions like creating a new chat or a new Neuron.
  • Neurons: Opens the Neurons page, where you can view and manage your custom Neurons or create a new one.
  • Library: Opens the Library page, where you can upload and organise files, folders, and knowledge bases for use in chats and Neurons.
  • Prompts: Opens the Prompts page, where you can create and manage reusable text snippets to insert into chats.

Chats

Below the navigation items is the Chats section, which contains a New folder button and a chronological list of your recent conversations, making it easy to resume a previous chat.

Clicking New folder opens the Folder name window, where you can enter a name and click Create folder to group chats into a folder for a project or topic. Chat folders organise your conversations only and are separate from file folders in the Library.

Profile Settings

At the very bottom of the sidebar, your avatar, display name, and email address are shown. Clicking this area opens the Profile Settings menu with the following options:

  • Personalisation: Jump directly to the Personalisation section of your settings.
  • Settings: Opens the Settings window, landing on the General tab.
  • Memory: Opens the Memories window, where you can view, filter, enable, disable, and delete individual memories the AI has stored about you.
  • Log Out: Sign out of your Neuro+ session.

Workspaces

A workspace is a self-contained environment within Neuro+. Each workspace has its own chat history, files, Neurons, and settings. Workspaces are a useful way to keep different contexts separate. For example, you might have one workspace for personal use and another for work, or a dedicated workspace for each client or project.

Switching Workspaces

Click the workspace selector at the top of the sidebar to open a dropdown showing all your workspaces. Your currently active workspace is marked with a checkmark. Click any workspace in the list to switch to it.

Creating a Workspace

From the workspace selector dropdown, click + Create workspace at the bottom of the list. This opens the Create Workspace window with the following fields:

  • Name: Enter a name for your new workspace.
  • Workspace Image: Upload an optional image to represent the workspace. A default icon is generated from the workspace initials if none is set.

Workspaces are used to organise and share chats, files, and Neurons.

Click Create Workspace to save, or Cancel to discard.

Workspace Settings

To open the settings for your current workspace, click the workspace selector and then click the Settings button next to the workspace name at the top of the dropdown. This opens the full Workspace settings page.

The page is divided into two sections:

Workspace settings

  • Workspace Image: Upload or change the image representing this workspace.
  • Workspace instructions: A free-text field for instructions that apply across all chats in this workspace, such as language preferences, formatting rules, or anything else the AI should always keep in mind. Click the pencil icon to edit.

Chat defaults

These settings apply to all new chats created within this workspace. Changes here do not affect existing chats.

  • Model: The default AI model for new chats. Defaults to Neuro+ Power.
  • Chat instructions: Default instructions prepended to every new chat. The built-in default is "You are a friendly, helpful AI assistant." Click the pencil icon to edit.
  • Include profile context (on by default): When enabled, new chats will automatically include your profile context so the AI can tailor responses to you.
  • Include workspace instructions (on by default): When enabled, the workspace instructions above are automatically included in every new chat.

Clicking show advanced settings expands two additional controls:

  • Temperature: Controls how varied the AI's responses are. Lower values give more consistent, focused answers; higher values give more varied ones. Default is 0.5.
  • Context Length: Sets the maximum amount of text (in words) the AI will consider when generating a response. Default is 300,000 words.

Neurons

Clicking Neurons in the sidebar opens the Neurons page. At the top of the page is the title "Neurons" and the description "Discover and create custom Neurons that combine instructions, personalisation, and extra knowledge." with a + New button in the top-right corner.

Below that is the Custom Neurons section, which lists all the Neurons you have created in this workspace. Each Neuron appears as a card showing its icon and name. Clicking a card opens that Neuron so you can edit or use it. If you have not created any Neurons yet, an empty state is shown with a + New Neuron button to get started.

Creating a New Neuron

A Neuron is a saved context you build once and reuse whenever it is relevant. Give it a name, load it with everything the AI needs to know about a specific project, role, or process, and it is ready to go. Instead of re-explaining your situation every time you start a conversation, you just pick the right Neuron. See What are Neurons? for full examples and guidance.

Clicking + New on the Neurons page starts a short wizard. You can close it at any time with the button in the top-right corner.

Step 1: Choose a type

The New Neuron window asks: "What kind of Neuron would you like to create?" Select one of the three options:

  • Neuroscience expert: Pre-configured for expert advice and problem solving.
  • Neuro+ Coach: Pre-configured for thinking things through and understanding your own perspective.
  • Custom: Start from scratch with no pre-set instructions.

Step 2: Complete your Neuron

The Complete your Neuron window is where you name and instruct your Neuron:

  • Name: Enter a clear, descriptive name to identify the Neuron, such as "Client X Project" or "Hiring Process".
  • Instructions: Write the core context for the Neuron, covering background information, goals, tone, constraints, or anything the AI should always know when this Neuron is active. Use the Generate button to get AI assistance drafting your instructions.
  • Add description (optional): Click this button to add a short description of the Neuron's purpose.
  • More settings: Click to expand two additional options:
    • Include profile context: When enabled, the Neuron will have access to your profile context.
    • Include workspace instructions: When enabled, the workspace instructions will be added to the Neuron's instructions.

Click Next to continue, or Back to return to the previous step.

Step 3: Add files

The Add files window lets you attach files, folders, or knowledge bases from your Library to the Neuron, giving it access to specific documents and resources. If you have not uploaded any files yet, an empty state will prompt you to upload files to your Library first. Click Skip to continue without adding files, or Back to return.

Step 4: Done

Once the Neuron is created, a confirmation screen displays "Neuron created" along with the Neuron's name. Click Done to close the wizard and return to the Neurons page, where your new Neuron will appear in the Custom Neurons list.

Prompts

Clicking Prompts in the sidebar opens the Prompts page. The page header reads "Create snippets of text you can easily insert into chats." and contains a + New button in the top-right corner.

The All prompts section lists every prompt you have saved. When prompts exist, a Search bar appears above the list. Each prompt is shown as a card displaying its title and a preview of the prompt text, along with a menu for further actions such as editing or deleting. If no prompts have been created yet, an empty state is shown with a + New prompt button to get started.

Creating a New Prompt

Clicking + New on the Prompts page opens the Create prompt window. Prompts are reusable snippets of text you can insert into chats on the fly.

  • Title: A short name to identify the prompt in your list.
  • Prompt text: The full text of the prompt. For example: "Focus more on discussion and learning than providing solutions. Think step by step and show reasoning for complex problems."

Click Create prompt to save, or Cancel to discard.

Library

Clicking Library in the sidebar opens the Library page, where you manage files for use in chats and Neurons. The page header reads "Manage your files for use in chats and Neurons."

Make your chats and Neurons smarter by providing them with the right knowledge.

When the Library contains files, the page shows three action buttons at the top (Upload files, New folder, New knowledge base), a Search bar, and three sections below:

  • Recent files: Files you have uploaded recently, shown with their filename, size, and a menu for further actions.
  • Folders: Any folders you have created to organise your files.
  • Knowledge bases: Any knowledge bases you have created.

All uploads are private by default.

The + New dropdown

Clicking the + New button in the top-right corner opens a small dropdown with three options:

  • Upload files: Upload one or more files directly to your Library.
  • New files folder: Create a folder to organise your files.
  • New knowledge base: Create a new knowledge base.

These same actions are also available as buttons on the Library page itself when files are present.

Creating a folder

Clicking New folder (or New files folder from the + New dropdown) opens the Folder name window:

  • Name: Enter a name for the folder.

File folders can be added to chats, Neurons, or even knowledge bases. It makes it easier to manage and access your files wherever you need them.

Click Create folder to save, or Cancel to discard.

Creating a knowledge base

A knowledge base is an easily shareable collection of files and folders. Clicking New knowledge base opens a multi-step wizard. The first step, Create knowledge base, asks for:

  • Name: Enter a name for the knowledge base.
  • Add description (optional): Click to add a short description of the knowledge base's purpose.

Click Next to continue through the remaining steps, or Cancel to discard.

Profile Settings

The Profile Settings area is accessed by clicking your name and avatar at the bottom of the sidebar. It covers account-level settings and memory management, which apply across all workspaces.

Settings

Clicking Settings from the Profile Settings menu opens the Settings window, which is organised into four sections accessible from the left navigation:

  • Profile
  • General
  • Account
  • Personalisation

Profile

The Profile section lets you manage your personal identity on the platform:

  • Full name: Your full name as stored on the account.
  • Display name: The name shown to you and others in the interface. This could be your first name or a nickname, however you'd like to be addressed.
  • Username: Your unique handle on the platform.
  • Timezone: A dropdown to set your local timezone, used to personalise scheduling and time-based features.

General

The General section contains two display preferences:

  • Appearance: Switch between Light and Dark mode.
  • Language: Set your preferred language for the interface.

Account

The Account section shows your subscription details under a Subscription heading ("Your current plan and billing details."):

  • Plan card: Displays your current plan name (e.g. Neuro+ Pro) and its status (e.g. Active), along with a brief description of what the plan includes.
  • Manage Subscription: Opens an external link where you can manage your billing, upgrade, or cancel your subscription.

Personalisation

The Personalisation section has three subsections and a Save button at the bottom to apply any changes.

Profile context

A free-text field ("What would you like the AI to know about you to provide better responses?") where you can tell the AI about yourself, including your role, preferences, working style, or anything else that helps it give more relevant responses.

Memories

  • Enable Memories toggle (off by default): When enabled, Neuro+ will save and use memories from your conversations when responding.
  • Manage memories: Opens the Memories window (see below).

NeuroPower profiles

These dropdowns let you record the results of the NeuroPower profiling tools so the AI can incorporate your profiles into its responses:

  • Core Belief Profile (Elephant): Select your Core Belief Profile result.
  • Strategic Mindset (Rider): Select your Strategic Mindset result.

If you haven't completed a profile yet, both default to "I don't know". You can run the profilers directly from the model selector in the chat interface.

Memories

The Memories window is accessible from two places: the Memory option in the Profile Settings menu, and the Manage memories button in Personalisation settings. It shows a full list of everything Neuro+ has remembered about you across your conversations.

Each row in the list displays:

  • Memory: A short summary of what was remembered, truncated if long.
  • Category: A coloured badge categorising the memory (e.g. Personal, Challenge).
  • Created: The date the memory was saved.
  • Enabled: A toggle to turn individual memories on or off without deleting them.

At the top of the window there is a Search memories bar for finding specific entries, a menu for bulk actions, and two filter dropdowns (All Categories and All Status) to narrow the list by category or enabled/disabled state.
